Subsea cable is set to be launched by Google in Nigeria to increase internet speed and create 1.6 million job opportunities.
Mrs. Juliet Ehimuan-Chiazor, Director of Google West Africa, said this during a meeting with Professor Isa Pantami, Nigerian Minister of Communications and Digital Economy.
According to Google, the Equiano subsea cable would boost internet speeds and create 1.6 million jobs in Nigeria.
Mrs. Juliet Ehimuan said that the subsea cable is being introduced as it lands at various locations around the continent, similar to how a road project is launched as it develops.
Nigeria is an important landing site for the cable, according to the Director, and the milestone is planned to be launched in April 2022.
Pantami further stated that the Buhari administration is committed to making doing business in Nigeria easier and that the Federal Government will continue to encourage rules that promote development.
